About KOULUER Welcome to KOULUER, where eyewear becomes an art form, crafted with the vibrant spirit of island heritage and a splash of global culture. KOULUER is the inspired creation of KOUTURE, designed by Nelissa Nimi Dass-Claveria—a visionary born in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, and now based in Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, where she’s lived for the past 30 years with her husband and son. Rooted in six generations of East Asian ancestry, Nelissa’s designs reflect the diverse and colorful cultural landscape of her homeland. Trinidad and Tobago is a rich blend of ethnicities, with East Indian, African, and Creole influences brought together by history and unity. This dynamic culture, with traditions like Carnival and Creole cuisine, alongside more recent influences from Guyanese and Venezuelan communities, breathes life into every KOULUER piece. Nelissa’s 35 years in the optical industry have given her the expertise to blend cultural stories into eyewear that celebrates her journey. Each frame is a story, named after vibrant festivals and traditions like Diwali, honoring her heritage and life experiences. At KOULUER, we believe eyewear should be more than an accessory; it should be a celebration, a memory, a bridge between past and present.
We envision a world where all plastic is recycled into useful, beautiful creations. As technology improves and consumers become more eco-conscious, we will do everything we can to offer the most aesthetically-pleasing, sustainably made products.
